SSC CHSL Syllabus 2021 – SSC CHSL Exam Pattern

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Higher Secondary Level (SSC CHSL) (10+2) exam every year. SSC CHSL is a three-tier exam that is conducted to fill up vacancies for a wide range of posts in various Government offices and departments like DEO, LDC, Postal Assistant posts.

The SSC CHSL notification was released on November 6, 2020. The SSC CHSL Tier 1 CBT will be conducted between April 12, 2021, to April 27, 2021.

To prepare for the upcoming exam, candidates must have a thorough knowledge of the SSC CHSL syllabus pdf from the official government’s website for effective preparation.

The exam is conducted in three tiers

Tier-I (objective test)

Tier-II (descriptive test)

Tier-III (skill/typing test)

Given below is SSC CHSL syllabus details for all three tiers of the exam:

SSC CHSL Syllabus for Tier – I 

The Computer-Based Written Test/SSC CHSL Tier-I exam has four sections:

  1. English Language 
  2. General Awareness 
  3. Quantitative Aptitude 
  4. General Intelligence

As per the Latest SSC CHSL Syllabus 2021

  1. Candidates will be given 100 questions from 4 subjects to be attempted in 60 minutes.
  2. There is a negative marking in SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam. Giving a wrong answer to a question will lead to a penalty of 0.5 marks in all sections.
  3. Candidates must go through all the topics, make a list of important topics and start studying to crack the exam.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2020-21

  • The exam is of 60 minutes duration and carries 100 marks. 
  • The exam duration is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped or suffer from cerebral palsy.
  • Paper 2 would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words
  • Paper 2 would comprise writing of Letter /Application writing of approximately 150-200 words.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in Tier 2 would be 33 percent.
  • The performance in Tier 2 would be included in preparing the final merit.
  • The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English.
  • Part paper written in Hindi and Part in English will not be evaluated

SSC CHSL Syllabus 2021- Tier 2

This paper asks to write an essay and Letter/Application that tests the writing skills of the candidates. The essay topics will be related to National Interest, Finance & Economy, Ecological Issues, Social Issues, Politics, Schemes & Governance, Technology, Sports, Geopolitics, Environmental Concerns, etc.

While for letter/Application writing generally official topics are asked. But it is always better to be aware of letter formats of all types. The type of letter/ application may be asked on Complaint, Suggestion, Application, Official Appreciation, Follow up or Feedback, etc.

 

SSC CHSL Syllabus 2021- Tier 3

The syllabus for the SSC CHSL Tier – III exam will be a skill/typing test that is qualifying in nature. The final merit of the selected candidates will be based on the total score obtained in the Tier – I and Tier – II exams.

The below-given table lists out the detailed SSC CHSL Exam Syllabus 2021 for Tier III:

Data Entry Operator (DEO) DEO of 8000 key depressions per hour on the computer will be determined on the basis of the correct entry of words/key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the test will be for 15 minutes and printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 key-depressions would be given to the candidates to enter the same in the test computer.
Data Entry Operator in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) The speed of 15000 key depressions per hour will be determined on the basis of the correct entry of words/key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the test will be 15 minutes and printed matter in English containing about 3700-4000 key-depressions would be given to the candidates to enter the same in the test computer.
Lower Division Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (LDS/JSA) and Postal Assistants/ Sorting Assistants (PA/SA) The speed of 10500 key depressions per hour will be determined on the basis of the correct entry of words/key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the test will be 15 minutes and printed matter in English containing about 9000 key-depressions/hour would be given to the candidates to enter the same in the test computer.

SSC CHSL Syllabus is vast and difficult to cover all the topics while revising. Time-to-time and thorough revision, analysis, and extensive preparation are required to crack the SSC CHSL exam, candidates need to take all-inclusive online mock tests.
