Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) is conducted by the University of Mysore (recognized as the Nodal Agency from UGC, New Delhi). It a highly competitive exam conducted for the recruitment of Lecturers/Assistant Professors of Universities/Colleges/Institutions (Government/Aided/Private) of Karnataka State. The certificate issued by the University for the eligible candidate will have lifetime validity.

The KSET 2021 examination consists of two papers:
- Paper I
- is a General Paper conducted to test the research and teaching aptitude of the candidate.
- General Paper consists of 50 objective type questions. Each question carries 2 marks.
- It is a one-hour examination.
- This exam is conducted in offline mode.
- It focuses on Teaching/ Research Aptitude, Comprehension, Divergent Thinking and General Awareness.
- Paper-II
- is based on subjects selected by the candidates. The candidate can choose any one of the 41 subjects.
- This paper will comprise 100 questions of 2 marks each. All questions will be compulsory.
- It consists of 100 objective type questions.
- Each question carries 2 marks.
- It is a Two-hour examination.
